Mission

We adhere to the time-honored traditional credit union philosophy of "People Helping People."  We were formed for the purpose of encouraging savings by offering a good return, using our collective monies to make loans at competitively low interest rates to members and to provide other member services on a cooperative basis.

Our mission is to provide high quality financial services to our members and to promote economic growth and stability within the Employees Choice Federal Credit Union.  These services will be provided at such a price as to facilitate future growth, protect our members' assets and provide a good standard of living for our employees.

History

On February 11, 1960, eight City of El Cajon employees signed the Organization Certificate to form El Cajon Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union.  They felt strongly that the employees of the City needed to be protected financially during the rapidly changing setting of the 1960's.  By pooling resources into a cooperative structure they created a viable financial institution that is still thriving today.  In 1995, the name was shortened to simply El Cajon Federal Credit Union (ECFCU) while services were increased to meet the growing needs of its membership.

On August 1, 2015, ECFCU expanded its membership by merging with LMCC Employees Federal Credit Union (LMCC).  LMCC was founded in 1956 and served the employees of the Helix Water District and the City of La Mesa as well as County of San Diego employees who work in La Mesa and State of California employees who work in or have headquarters in La Mesa.  This expansion gave ECFCU the ability to add these employees and their family members to its field of membership.

On September 30, 2016, El Cajon Federal Credit Union became Employees Choice Federal Credit Union; a more inclusive name with a clearer focused message.  We are proud of our 56 year history as the employees' choice for personal financial service.
